CSA Personnel Transfer Certificate - Office C.S. Barracks Richmond January 19, 1865 PCGS Very Fine 35
The Office of the C(onfederate) S(tates) Barracks was the control point for reassigning and transferring troops between commands. This Certificate, signed by Lt. Benjamin Bates, Commanding, acknowledged receipt of two men from Winder Hospital (a military hospital in Richmond organized in 1862) who were to be forwarded to their commands. PCGS notes a tiny body hole just to the right of "Va." and some (very) minor mounting remnants on the back. A significant piece of Confederate military history.
