Two Uncut Sheets of "CSA" Watermarked Paper

Confederate States of America "CSA" Watermarked Paper Two Full Sheets of Eight Watermarks Each Not Graded.
On April 27, 1862 the Confederate blockade runner Bermuda was captured by the USS Mercedita and taken to Philadelphia. The Bermuda's cargo, which included a shipment of banknote paper bound for the Confederacy, was ordered sold by the Federal Courts. The Treasury Department purchased most of the "CSA" watermarked banknote paper and used it for a number of purposes, including Fractional Currency Specimens of the Second and Third issues. A full sheet contains eight block letter CSA watermarks. These two uncut sheets come rolled in a tube and are not graded. They are folded in half horizontally and this fold does not interfere with any of the "CSA" watermarks. There is also some toning. The last single sheet of "CSA" watermarked paper that we auctioned realized $1,260 in January 2021. (Total: 2 sheets)

    Estimate: $2,000 - up.
