    Description

Clarkson, NY- Town War Scrip $100 Oct. 3, 1864
A most interesting piece of Civil War scrip dated October 3, 1864, in which the town of Clarkson (located in Monroe County in the vicinity of Rochester) promises to pay one Stephen B. Haight $100 on the 15th day of February, 1865, for his voluntary enlistment in the Union Army "to fill the quota of said town under the call of the President, of July 18th, 1864, for 500,000 men." It is endorsed on the back by Mr. Haight. Very Fine with some paper aging around the margins.
