Description4% Console Bond $1 Coupon of 1907 Hessler X166J.
This $1 coupon is from the Four Percent Loan of 1907. The coupons were redeemed quarterly with the first payment due in the final quarter of 1879. This coupon has a portrait of Daniel Webster and is from a $100 bond of that issue. There is also speculation that coupons from this issue circulated to pay small debts. This coupon is for the final quarter of 1880. We have auctioned several of the 50¢ coupons for the $50 bonds of this issue over the years, but this is only the fourth $1 coupon that we have entertained. The portrait for these coupons can either be on the right or left side. If the coupon is an even number, the portrait is on the left. If the coupon is an odd number, the portrait is on the right. In fact, this particular coupon is for collectors who are not triskaidekaphobiacs. This is the nicest example of this coupon to participate in our auctions. Very Fine with a pinhole in the lower right corner.
