    Description

$3 The State Bank of Michigan, Detroit, XF. A product of the American Bank Note Company with superb detail engraving and great color. This is a very popular and widely collected denomination and this note is special because of the Lyman's Protection. This was an anti-counterfeiting design and the percent of the note that carried the fancy design at the right determined its denomination. This was explained in detail on the left side of the note and prevented persons from trying to increase the face value of the note. This note is very sharp except for two problems on the back. There is a small stain that bleeds through to the front and a piece of paper stuck to the back of the note, most likely from being glued down in the past. The note faces up very well and is very attractive.
