    Description

Early Postcard of the Macerator and Friends
An old postcard showing the Destruction Committee and the top part of the macerating machine. This is black and white. We've seen this view before both black and white and colorized, but the inscription is new to us: "In the macerator of the Treasury, an average of a million dollars a day of old money is ground into pulp. The largest sum ever deposited in the macerator by the committee in one day was 151,000,000 Dollars, destroyed on June 27, 1894."
From the Wade Boughton Macerated Collection
