    Description

    Sizeable Unmolded Slab of Macerated

    $5000 Worth of Do-It-Yourself Macerated
The slab measures approximately 4" x 3" and is 3/4" high. It is pre-1908, with large pieces of notes throughout. Legal Tenders, Gold Certificates and Brown Back Nationals are prominent. This one is all about the label. "CONTAINS ABOUT $5000. This block is made of money (notes of all denominations for $1 to $1000) which had been sent by the United States Express Company who have the contract with the government to carry all its money..." There is a bunch of detail about the macerating and inspecting process. And after maceration "it is taken out and made up into these blocks. To mold into any shape, soak in water and let dry after remolding." Undoubtedly extremely rare, this is the only example we've seen in 50+ years.
