    Rare Vladivostok U.S. Navy Scrip

U.S. Navy Club Vladivostok 10 Sen circa 1917.
This is a great piece of military paper money measuring approximately 2.25 by 1.75 inches. It is one of the few numismatic reminders of the United States anti-Bolshevik expeditionary force that was based in Vladivostok. We can recall seeing one of these many years ago and it may have been this very example. At the close of World War I, American, British, French, and Japanese troops were landed at Vladivostok where they were garrisoned for over a year. They were withdrawn by their respective governments when it was realized that the Red Army was going to be victorious in the Russian Civil War. This is the type of item that only comes available when great collections are sold. PCGS Fine 15 with facsimile inverted signature of C.H. Rockey, American naval officer, on the back.
