Ninetieth Division- Berncastle, Germany 10 (2), 20 (4), 50, 100 Teeohs May 1 -2, 1919.The Ninetieth Division's troops were young men from Texas and Oklahoma. Their insignia is a monogram "TO." The Ninetieth served in France during World War One and then spent 1919 on occupation duty in Germany. To relieve the boredom of occupation duty this division held an American circus and county fair in the Fatherland. Currency for this event was denominated in "Teeohs" and the uniface notes display cowboys and Indians, except that the 100 shares a vignette with the French Army Treasury issues of 1917 and 1919. This is only the second time that we have seen more than a solitary piece available from this little known event. It is also the first time that we have laid eyes on the 100 denomination. The notes grade Fine or better with a 10, three 20s, and the 50 all having edge wear of varying degrees. The 50 also has a detached, yet present lower right corner. A couple of the pieces were once mounted and the 100 has a paper clip rust stain and a pencilled name of "Hurst E.A." on the back. This is a great lot for the serious military collector. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason. (Total: 8 notes)
