    Description

Fr. 375 $20 1891 Treasury Note PMG Gem Uncirculated 65.
A third high grade example of this always sought after one year type note. One can only wonder why the portrait of John Marshall, who died in 1835, was used on this denomination when the remainder of the entire Treasury Note series portrayed Civil War era generals and statesmen. PMG has assigned the full Gem Uncirculated 65 grade without any qualification, but makes mention of a minor repair in the "portriat." We are not sure where the "portriat" is, but the repair must certainly be minor indeed as we cannot find it anywhere on the note through the holder.
