Nicely Preserved $20 1891 Treasury Note
Fr. 375 $20 1891 Treasury Note PMG Choice Uncirculated
64.A nicely preserved plate letter A Chief Justice John Marshall Open Back $20 sporting ideal color. The paper also shows easily observable embossing on the back of the finely engraved lines of Marshall's coat. Ornate Back designs were replaced with Open Back designs because silk fibers in two rows for the notes were added to the paper manufacturing specifications. The engraved lines of the coat readily standout on this example as they appear in the unprinted area on the back at right.
