    High-Grade 1890 Treasury Twenty

Fr. 372 $20 1890 Treasury Note Extremely Fine. An outstanding example of this elusive and seldom offered denomination in the Treasury Note series. Unlike lesser denominations, the fancy back reverse of the $20 Marshall is encountered more often than its Series 1891, less intricate counterpart. Nicely margined, with excellent color and no problems of any kind, the folds are nearly invisible from the face, and only slightly more visible on the ornate back. Like so many notes from the Malcolm Trask Collection, this piece has been off the market for half a century and is unlisted in any census data. Although around sixty notes of this Friedberg number are known, most are heavily circulated, with only a half-dozen or so top-end pieces. This note is easily in the top third of the census. Handsome and very popular.
From the collection of Malcolm A. Trask.
