    Description

Very Scarce Fr. 365 $5 "Open Back" Note

Fr. 365 $5 1891 Treasury Note PMG Very Fine 20.
The final $5 1891 Treasury Note with the "open back" style, and very scarce. There were 700,000 printed, and Track & Price reports 32 examples currently. We have not handled many of these; considering their scarcity, they seem undervalued compared to some other rare type notes. This example has moderate circulation as expected and is bright overall. Ex: Lyn Knight, February 1999 sale, lot 522.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
