Near Gem Ornate Back $5 Treasury Note

Fr. 361 $5 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
The 1890 $5 Coin note honored General George H. Thomas, the "Rock of Chickamauga". Thomas is best remembered for his defensive stand at the Battle of Chickamauga and his later victory at Nashville. The note features an oversize portrait of Thomas on the face and a very ornate green back featuring a large FIVE. The note has excellent original paper surfaces, wonderful colors, and wholesome margins and centering, with only a bit of a snug top margin on the face holding it back from an even higher grade.
