Bright McPherson 1890 Ornate Back $2
Fr. 353 $2 1890 Treasury Note PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ.A beautifully original, problem-free McPherson Deuce, this example is well margined, with great color, sharp printing, and pristine surfaces that are 100% clean on the face, and also the back. This Treasury Note has the early style Ornate Back that is extremely popular with collectors and considerably scarcer than the Open Back design that followed. It has been over five years since an example of this Friedberg number at this grade level with either the EPQ or PPQ designation has crossed the auction block. That last occurrence was in a 2017 auction where a PCGS 40PPQ fetched $7,050.
