Rare 1891 $20 Silver Certificate Gem

Fr. 320 $20 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
A high-end uncirculated example of a number that is scarce in all grades, with only 72 total pieces listed in the Track & Price census. This note is from the short run of serial numbers that has supplied virtually all of the high-grade examples known of this number. The centering is excellent, and the note bears the important Exceptional Paper Quality comment. Offerings at this grade level or higher have been virtually non-existent for years, with Track & Price reporting only two Gem 66's at auction during the past decade (with both fetching identical prices of $32,900 two years ago), while no 65's have been available since we sold this example back in 2008, when it realized $23,000.
