Bright and Attractive Rare Fr. 312

Fr. 312 $20 1880 Silver Certificate Choice Very Fine. As with virtually all of the notes from Malcolm Trask's collection, this piece is previously unreported. It has been off the market since the late 40's or early 50's. Only about 30 examples of this note are known in all grades combined, and only six of them grade higher than this note. The portrait of Stephen Decatur has the clarity and detail that one would expect to find on an uncirculated piece, and the colors of both sides are bright and strong. The note is beautifully margined and absolutely problem-free. The back shows a little circulation soil, the face virtually none. We've sold only nine examples of this number.
From the collection of Malcolm A. Trask.
