    Description

Exceptionally Appealing VF 30 Stephen Decatur $20 Silver

Fr. 311 $20 1880 Silver Certificate PCGS Very Fine 30.
A sharply printed example of the always popular Stephen Decatur $20 1880 Silver Certificate. Decatur was a naval commander and a hero of both the Tripoli campaign against the Barbary pirates and the War of 1812. He is perhaps best remembered for his after dinner toast "Our Country! In her intercourse with foreign nations may she always be in the right; but right or wrong, our country!" The eye appeal of this example, which was previously part of the Harry Bass collection, is incredible. It equals that of most Choice AU examples we've seen. While the VF 30 grade is no doubt technically correct, the value of this piece is considerably higher.
