Sharp Extremely Fine 40 Fr. 311

Fr. 310 $20 1880 Silver Certificate PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
A scarcer Friedberg number in a hugely popular type. The Track & Price census lists just forty-seven examples, with only a literal handful offered at public sale during the past five years in all grades combined. In nearly a decade of grading, PCGS has slabbed only 13 examples, with just four making the Extremely Fine cut, and four higher, the finest being a lone About New 53. We have not had a specimen equal to this piece for two years, with the last EF 40 we offered selling for over $20,000 in 2013. Expect an even higher realization for this attractive and problem free example this evening.
