    CGA-65 1880 Ten Dollar Silver Certificate

    Fr. 288 $10 1880 Silver Certificate CGA Gem Uncirculated 65. This note was previously the property of Robert Schermerhorn and then Harry Bass. We sold it once before, in September of 2001, where we graded it Superb prior to its having been holdered by CGA. In 2001, we described the note as having strong original embossing, which we can still see through the third-party holder. The note is from the short run that has supplied collectors with almost all the high-grade Fr. 288's. Fr. 289 has a census approaching 150, while there are fewer than 75 Fr. 288's known, yet both traditionally realize about the same price. A lovely note that should easily reach, and quite possibly exceed . . .
