PCGS 67PPQ Fr. 278 - Tied for Finest Graded

Fr. 278 $5 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ. PCGS has graded 55 Fr. 278's--only two of those are at this level with a single 66 below them. While Fr. 278 is far from a rare number, it is not one of the Chiefs that is generally seen in top grade. We doubt if the 67 count will increase very much over the coming years. The note itself is clearly worthy of every point it earned. It's a true beauty with ideal color, pronounced original embossing, and the typical "A" subject overly large top margin. A very beautiful piece. We sold the other PCGS 67 in January 2006 for $9085, and we have no doubt, 2 years later with a grade population of only two pieces, that this note will do far better.
