    Superb Lyons-Roberts Five Dollar Educational

Fr. 270 $5 1896 Silver Certificate Superb Gem New. This "A" position Five Dollar Ed has the broader top margin generally associated with the top note on the sheet. The rest of the margins, while note perfectly even, are plenty broad enough to support the grade and the color, paper surfaces and original embossing are nothing less than spectacular. Fr. 270 is by far the scarcest of the Educational Fives. Well over 500 pieces are known for Fr. 268 and 269 combined, but only about 100 270's. Currency Auctions of America's figures are just about the same with sales of over 150 268's and 269's combined but only 41 Fr. 270's.
