    Description

Fully Margined, Bright, and Gem-Appearing Educational $5 - PMG 64

Fr. 268 $5 1896 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
A beautifully margined $5 Educational with the color, centering, and eye appeal of a 66. Whatever the grading service saw here to limit the grade to 64 is certainly not visible to us through the holder. While the paper originality is not as bold as on some notes, it is original, and it is visible. That being said, the grade is simply a question mark to us. On occasion, there is a half-fold or crinkle which disappears when the note goes into the third party holder. Perhaps that is the case here, but it appears as though this note would be an extreme bargain were it to sell at the 64 price level.
