    Description

    Gem 1896 Fr. 268 $5 Educational

Fr. 268 $5 1896 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.
The highly sought-after "PPQ" suffix appears on the PCGS holder of this freshly inked Educational $5, attesting to its Premium Paper Quality. If we were to guess what limited the grade of this note to 65, we would presume it's the slightly skewed face margins as the top margin is outsized and the bottom margin considerably thinner. The note certainly seems to have the attributes of a 67 or better save for its margin anomaly. The colors are exceptionally bold, with plenty of eye appeal. A lovely piece that should please any collector seeking an original example of what may be the single most popular design type.
