    Description

Spectacular Fr. 262 Silver Dollar Back

Fr. 262 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
A much scarcer Friedberg number with only about 100 examples known in all grades combined, compared to over 300 Fr. 261s and almost 375 Fr. 263s. Only a handful of 262s are Uncirculated, several of which have sold recently for incredibly strong prices. This 66 EPQ example has photograph-like clarity to its engraving as well as extraordinary color and boldly original, easily seen embossing. According to Track & Price, it has been over five years since any example of this Friedberg number approaching this grade level has been publicly offered, so any estimate is simply a guess. We will be conservative and let the bidders decide who takes home this gorgeous, popular type note tonight.
