Description

Pleasing Choice VF 1886 $5 with Well-Known Morgan Silver Dollar Back

Fr. 259 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
The bright Choice VF 1886 $5 Silver in this lot is of the scarcer Fr. 259 variation. The census for this Friedberg number, which is the second rarest number by population for all Morgan Silver Dollar Back $5 Silvers, is composed of just 51 issued examples and one Face Proof representative. The Rosecrans-Jordan signature combination appears along the lower portion of this piece which is characterized by a bold, small red Treasury Seal, well printed design details, and nice eye appeal. The Morgan Dollar observed at center on the back remains largely unblemished and unaffected by any significant impairments. Only a few light folds hold this note back from a higher grade. PMG comments on pinholes which are well hidden within the design.
