Solid Nines and One Hundred Million Rollover Pair from the Z-B Block

Fr. 237 $1 1923 Silver Certificates Solid Nines and 100000000 Rollover Pair PCGS New 61.
The C and D position notes from the final sheet of the Z-B block. The machine that numbers the notes ends with the eight digit solid 9s in the C position. The following note, in the D position, with a 1 followed by eight 0s needed to be handset. Consequently, the zeros tend to dance around a bit, unlike the normal perfectly straight serial numbers. Only a few different types were printed through the eight digit solid 9 and very few of these final pairs were kept. The notes are considerably rarer than the serial number one note from the next block that would have topped the next sheet produced. A prize find for the special serial number collector, particularly in this uncirculated grade as many of the pairs that were kept were folded for storage. The notes are lightly aged, with very minor surface wrinkling, accounting for the 61 grade, but they match each other perfectly and both are fully uncirculated. (Total: 2 notes)
