Fr. 215 $1 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35 EPQ.
The first Silver Certificates were issued in 1878 in $10 and greater denominations, but in low printing quantities; only a small number are known today. Within a few years, millions of low denomination Silver Certificates, payable in newly minted silver dollars, circulated in commerce. Charles Burt engraved the Martha Washington portrait used on this and the 1891 $1 notes. The solid green back with the obligation in the center is intricately detailed. A lightly circulated note boasting strong color.
