1886 $5 Silver Certificate, Fr-263, VF. A beautiful note that is loaded with eye appeal, having the look of a higher grade as the folds are light and not distracting. This is an extremely popular type with the Five Silver Dollars on the reverse and General Grant on the front. The back design is beautiful, unaffected by heavy folds, and the large brown seal adds to its great look and desirability. The paper is crisp and clean and there is a strong temptation to assign a higher grade, but the number of folds prevents us from doing that. It has more eye appeal than many notes we have seen that are pressed and cleaned to improve their look, but lack the originality of this nice note.
