DescriptionG.S. Allen Courtesy Autograph Fr. 37 $1 1917 Legal Tender PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.
One of the more interesting courtesy autographs that we have handled. It is signed across the right serial number by G. S. Allen, who was acting treasurer during John Burke's absence. The words "Acting Treasurer." are either typed or rubber stamped below his signature. Treasurer Burke's engraved signature is found on Fr. 37 notes, so this note has the autograph of his "understudy." A nicely preserved ace with excellent paper and color that last crossed the auction block at the seventh Memphis International Paper Money Show in 1983.
Estimate: $600 - up.
