Pleasing Very Fine 30 Fr. 94 $10 1862 Legal Tender Note

Fr. 94 $10 1862 Legal Tender PCGS Very Fine 30.
This pleasing 1862 $10 Legal Tender with virtually the same layout and imagery, including the iconic Abraham Lincoln portrait, used on the first $10 Demand Notes. This 1862 type with the Second Obligation back is a sleeper rarity. Only 69 examples are listed in the census, mostly in rather low grade. Only three Uncirculated pieces are listed; the best is a 63, which we sold in our 2016 FUN auction for almost $50,000. This moderately circulated example is a solid VF, with strong edges and none of the splits or stray marks often observed on this early type. It presents a great opportunity to acquire an attractive, affordable example of this scarce note.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
