Fr. 64 $5 1869 Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
Sharp printing and a vivid blue swath are hallmarks of this pleasing $5 Rainbow, which sits right in the middle of a long run of Choice and Gem Uncirculated notes. Many of these notes came from packs acquired by the late William Philpott, the long time Secretary to the Texas Bankers Association and the "dean" of currency collectors (and dealers), who would bring his packs of 1869 $5 and $10 notes to the paper money room run by the SPMC at ANA conventions in the late 1960's and early 1970's and sell notes "as they came" from the packs for $35 for the Fives and $75 for the Tens.
