    Description

Fr. 16b $1 1862 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 20.
One of the much scarcer Friedberg number varieties, this Fr. 16b note is from Series 166 and lacks the banknote company monogram and has a green patent date at the right. Track & Price lists only ten pieces in their census, not including this evenly circulated and problem free example. Last year, we sold a PMG Fine 12 for $552 and a PMG Extremely Fine 40 for $2,040. This mid-grade specimen should realize somewhere in the middle.

    Estimate: $1,000 - up.
