Description
Only Complete Fr. 202d Proof In Existence
Fr. 202d Hessler X126I (1393b) $1000 1861 Interest Bearing Note Proof Gem New, PC. There are no issued notes for this design known, and in fact this is the only complete proof in existence. This plate letter A proof with two punch cancels hails from the sale of the fabled Vattemare Collection, and it carries the familiar rim mounting of that collection. It also has a pencilled "1521" in the upper right-hand corner, and this notation corresponds with its lot number in Part II of the Vattemare sale. Serial number 3973 has been penned in red ink, while a couple of black ink drops reside on the back. An unusual aspect of this Friedberg plate note is that the blue-green central arch around the vignette of America is inverted. Surely, a trophy note if there ever was one, and destined to rest in another great collection.Auction Info
