Fr. 1225e $10,000 1900 Gold Certificate PCGS Very Fine 25.
Irredeemable even if it were not cancelled, but this particular note provides a crash course in all of the different ways notes were canceled. It has a half moon cancel through Jackson's face that is rarely seen on anything other than Fractional experimentals, it has three differently shaped punch cancels, and it has a roulette cancel stating that is was paid on July 16, 1913 at Baltimore. The unusual cancels and the fact that the note lacks border staining gives us the impression that this note was not part of the 1930s Washington, DC Post Office debacle where a fire caused these notes to be tossed from the window of the Post Office and were promptly scooped up by the crowd watching the fire. Most all of those notes are heavily water stained. This note simply does not have the feel of those. PCGS has italicized the 25 grade and added the comment, "Small Edge Splits."
