One of Four Known Fr. 1225d $10,000 Gold Certificates

Fr. 1225d $10,000 1900 Gold Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.
While this note will never challenge for the most beautiful example of this type, it certainly tells its story better than many of the other examples known. These notes were retrieved by onlookers after being tossed from the upper story windows of the Old Post Office Building where they were stored until a fire broke out in 1935 . This variety, with the Vernon-McClung signature combination, made payable to the New York Clearing House Association, is the rarest of the eight signature varieties with only four examples known. While the note has six POCs and a bit of staining, it accurately provides evidence of what its been through and is as rare as these notes get. Heritage has been privileged to handle all four examples of the rare Fr. 1225d variety over the last four years.
