    Tougher Fr. 1225c 1900 $10,000 Gold Certificate

Fr. 1225c $10,000 1900 Gold Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
Hole-punch cancelled, this is another example of this unredeemable design of a better Friedberg number. The payable bank in this case is The National City Bank of New York. The name of the bank, the city, and a 1909 date have been penned along the lines at bottom center. Minor fading of the penmanship confirms that this note was at the December 13, 1935 Washington, DC fire. We can thank that conflagration for providing these notes to the collector community. This example is without folds, and the inks remain dark. The last of this design that we auctioned in this precise PMG grade was of the commoner Fr. 1225h, bringing $4,465 last January. This much better Friedberg number should easily top that figure.
