Attractive Mid-Grade $1000 Gold CertificateFr. 1219e $1000 1907 Gold Certificate PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
This Series 1907 issue was printed in the late teens while Teehee and Burke held the positions of Register of the Treasury and Treasurer. In that five year span from 1915 to 1919, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing printed 116,000 notes for use mostly in bank to bank transactions. The population for this Friedberg number is misleading as nearly a third of the survivors are permanently impounded in Federal Reserve Collections and in the Smithsonian. The other Friedberg numbers displaying Series date 1907 and different signatures are all scarce in their own right. Four perfectly even margins frame this attractive $1000 Gold. The colors on front and back are still quite vivid, and the repaired edge tears at right mentioned by PCGS are far from distracting, with "split" a more accurate way to describe the condition.
