    $500 1922 Gold

Fr. 1217 $500 1922 Gold Certificate PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
A great note that first crossed our auction block in September 2000 and again in February 2005. It is one of the prettiest VF 35s we have encountered and has the appearance of a higher grade, even with the negligible small repairs. These facts helped it in February 2005 to realize $48,875. Today, we see that this Fr. 1217 is right outside the ten highest graded examples for this Friedberg number. However, if you go on just appearance and not the technical grade, this example will easily make the top ten.
