Fr. 1212 1882 $100 Gold Certificate - The Finest Graded at Either Service by Ten Points

Fr. 1212 $100 1882 Gold Certificate PCGS About New 50.
Two different PCGS Currency XF 40s were the highest third party examples to ever cross the auction block, and neither has been seen in the past seven years. Other than this note, neither service has graded a Fr. 1212 over XF 40. While we do not question the assigned PCGS Currency grade of About New 50, the note has the color, margins, and magnetic eye appeal one would expect of a true Gem. A spectacular looking note, and an important grade rarity as the finest known example of a note that is scarce in all grades. Once in a while, a type collector with a truly great eye for value and appearance comes along. He or she will want this note!
