Very Rare Fr. 1188 One of Nine Known
Fr. 1188 $50 1882 Gold Certificate PMG Very Fine 30 Net.One of a mere nine serial numbers recorded in Track & Price. This is a very rare Friedberg number within a rare design that has a population of only 55 spread over seven different Friedberg numbers. It is the first Fr. 1188 to be available at auction in over four years. The previous note in 2013 was a repaired PCGS Apparent VF 20 that realized $7,050. The net grade for the current offering is for a restoration that was professionally performed. Our consignor was the high bidder on this example in 2005 where it won the approval of his discerning eye.
