Fr. 1173 $10 1922 Gold Certificate PMG Choice Fine 15.
This $10 Gold was originally auctioned in November 1968 at Bayard, Iowa. It was then part of the "Boys Hidden Treasure" hoard. The notes/treasurer were found by a group of a dozen young boys on June 1, 1965. Newspapers across the country covered the story in detail. The found notes were subsequently auctioned in the boys' interest after no rightful owner could be located. Each lot in the auction came with a certificate triple-signed by two auctioneers and the legal guardian/receiver. This is only the fourth time that we have handled a note from this celebrated group that has remained with its original certificate. The $10 Gold is housed in a PMG multi-note holder with its certificate. It is an interesting story that is well worth reading about.
