    Description

    Very Rare Fr. 360

Fr. 360 $5 1890 Treasury Note PMG Very Fine 30.
Another wise purchase was made by our consignor as he acquired this very rare Thomas Ornate Back $5 at our January 2000 Winter auction. Track & Price lists only 19 serial numbers and we know that one of those is under lock and key at the San Francisco FRB. We have auctioned five different Fr. 360s over the years with the last one being a comment free PMG VF 30 that realized $37,600 in August 2015. The piece in this lot is one of the nicer known examples even with closed pinholes and minor rust. We do not expect the above figure tonight, but we are confident in our estimate.
