Handsome Fancy Back 1890 Treasury Single

Fr. 347 $1 1890 Treasury Note PCGS Very Choice New 64.
A very handsome example of this fancy back 1890 Treasury ace bearing the portrait of Lincoln's second Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton, who replaced Simon Cameron early in 1862. Cameron's ethics wore down President Lincoln who was famously quoted as saying that the only thing Cameron would not steal was a red hot stove. The note is very nicely margined with strong color and magnetic eye appeal. An argument could certainly be made for an extra point. The argument would not necessarily win, but it could be made.
