Serial Number 1 Windom Note
Fr. 245 $2 1891 Silver Certificate PCGS Extremely Fine 40.A great serial number 1 Windom note that first appeared on the market in our 1998 FUN Auction where we related that the note surfaced at a show in Minnesota, William Windom's home state. We further stated that, despite three light storage folds, it retains its full bright colors of both paper and inks, as well as its original paper surfaces and embossing. This is the first Windom note to have been printed and the only serial number 1 Windom note that exists, as the serial numbers were run straight through the signature change to Fr. 246, the only other Windom number. This is a true wonder note that will be the centerpiece of whatever collection it enters tonight. The actor William Windom, who appeared in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and costarred with Frank Sinatra in "The Detective" was the great-grandson of the star of this note.
