    No examples of this Friedberg number have been sold at public auction in at least a half decade. A look at the census reveals this discovery note is just the tenth 1880 $100 Legal Tender with the Bruce-Wyman signature combination to be reported by collectors. The inks are still quite bold despite a modicum of wear. Full margins frame the face design, which is strong and uninterrupted by the folds. As with many United States currency rarities, some professional restoration was done in order to make it more appealing to collectors, as if rarity wasn't enough. Some rust stains have been partially removed, in addition to some minor edge repairs and a hint of discoloration on back. With few options available to collectors, and perhaps none that are free of repairs, expect this piece to reach or exceed...
