Scarce and Desirable Fr. 1215* $100 Gold Star

Fr. 1215* $100 1922 Gold Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.
A bright, nice margined, and sharply inked example of this replacement note that represents the only Friedberg number for the Large Size $100 Gold Certificates that issued Stars. It is one of just 29 pieces listed in the census, most of which are rather well worn and/or with problems. This offering is quite the opposite and displays just moderate, problem-free circulation. It is also another scarce note from the Doug Murray holdings that is making its inaugural auction appearance. In our 2014 FUN auction, we offered a PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ specimen that fetched a strong $17,625. This appealing note should certainly realize at least half that amount.
