Friedberg 114 PMG 67 EPQ Bison - None Graded Higher

Fr. 114 $10 1901 Legal Tender PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
Although a number of 67s have been certified by both grading services, not a single 68 or higher has been seen yet. It would be hard to imagine a nicer example of this popular issue, and we expect spirited bidding from interested collectors. A number of 67s have appeared at public auction and all have clustered right around the $20,000 mark. This particular example has wonderfully deep original embossing along with absolutely perfect color and more than enough margin to support the grade. Although for years it was assumed that the model for this note was Black Diamond, the bison on the reverse of the Buffalo nickel, there has been a dispute over whether it might have been Pablo, a resident of the Washington, DC zoo.
