    Problem-Free San Francisco $1,000 Federal Reserve Note

    Fr. 1133-L $1,000 1918 Federal Reserve Note PMG Very Fine 25.
    The San Francisco district $1000s are by far the most common of the 1918 series for that denomination. Track & Price indicates 59 known examples, exceeding the total for all of the other districts combined. That is a long-winded way to say that this is the perfect note to represent the type without paying a premium for a far scarcer district. This note, which is new to the census, is a perfect VF 25. PMG clearly agrees, as there are no negative comments of any kind. Last March, another PMG Very Fine 25 note that had been repaired sold at auction for $17,400.
