    Newly Discovered Friedberg 803 Star - The Finest of Three Known

    Fr. 803* $5 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG Very Fine 30.
    PMG has graded only two examples of this extremely rare star note with this 30 being by far the highest. The other example is a good 8. Track & Price shows only two notes to have auctioned. A PCGS 15, which realized over $8800 in June 2015 and a raw VG 10, which the old CAA sold in 1999 for $3500. PCGS has graded only a single example, which was an apparent 25, edge restorations that is the same note referred to as a 15 in Track & Price. This finest known example is a new serial number to the census and as a problem free 30 it is by far the finest known.
